Description:
Disabilities as outlined by WHO, is an overarching dimension of diversity that covers impairments, activity limitations and participation restrictions. Someone, anyone, YOU can experience a disability at ANY point in time, as a disability can be temporary or permanent, visible or invisible, acquired from birth or later in life.
What the past two years have highlighted are the ableist norms - subtle acts of exclusion - to this dimension of diversity. The new ways of working tasks us to assess and affect real change in ensuring that our systems, practices, policies and culture promote accessibility and true inclusion and belonging.
Change and accountability can only be had by engaging in hard conversations first with those who experience these issues firsthand and implementing enterprise-wide changes in organizations with the solutions they want to see for themselves and others faced with the same experience. This panel discussion will provide insights from subject matter experts from the community on the barriers faced and actionable steps from talent to technology that can drive systemic change in the workplace.
