Description:
When organizations expand and grow internationally and begin sending employees across borders, one key consequence is the need to consider how to compensate those international assignees. Compensation is an important tool for companies as they seek to attract, develop and retain key talent—especially in today’s environment where employers are competing for skilled talent.
Careful development of appropriate compensation approaches for international assignees can result in successful, engaged employees while achieving cost management for employers.
This course discusses the major considerations to compensation for employees being sent on international assignment and their advantages and disadvantages. In addition, it looks closely at the traditional home-based balance sheet approach, which was developed for international assignments and is one approach that is widely used by multinationals.
Note that this course focuses on international assignments where the employee and family relocate temporarily to another country for 2 to 5 years.
